LOL, I now get my enjoyment from Crazy Quilting,
I love embroidery, Beads, Buttons, Lace and Embellishments, having a large collection gathered over many years.
The wall hanging I am working on at present I call " Freedom to Fly"... All Creatures with Wings should have freedom to fly.
This includes my imagination of course.
Lots of Birds and Butterflies adorn the blocks, the Rosella on the top righthand photo and the Kookaburra on the lower photo are sew on motifs owned by my Husbands Grandmother.
so these Quilts become memory Quilts as well.
Now even Fairies have wings, I found a beautiful Fairy design to embroider so I think she will find a place on a block also.
Please don't send a straight Jacket yet, it would restrict my hands , I did tell you I am crazy
Sue with her lovely swap gift, I travelled with Sue, although she has only lived in Melbourne for a short time she has an inbuilt compass for finding her way around, and even drove our new member Kim home to Oak Park.
Thank you Sue, you are a wonderful driver.

Today is National Mug Rug Day.
This little beauty was made for me by my dear friend Dorothy, who knows how much I love pretty teacups.

Now although I have not made many Mug Rugs myself, I must confess to making this one in December2013 for a dear friend.
This friend isn't fond of them at all !!!
Although maybe she is warming to them just a bit, after receiving so many.
Luv Ya Shez, enjoyinglife.blogspot.comBriar Rosehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08141060871571222284noreply@blogger.com11tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1391602828084239059.post-88117688226301344312014-01-20T16:34:00.000-08:002014-01-20T16:34:34.397-08:00Musings of a lazy blogger

It is such a long time between between posts, maybe I should change my blog name to the lazy blogger.
I have still been doing a bit of sewing, a couple of stitcheries, I can't show yet.
For years I have wanted to make a crazy quilt and have been collecting bits and pieces for that purpose, at last I have started, these are my first two 12.5 inch blocks, still works in progress.

I am not sure what I am doing, but enjoying myself immensely in the process.
I may call this quilt "Butterfly Dreaming" or perhaps "Garden Dreaming" or even "The Birds and the Bees', no not that.

I have this lovely book by Allie Aller to drool over, I don't think mine will ever be up to Allie's standard, but I'm having fun trying.
Anyway until next time, whenever that will be,
Live well, Laugh often, and Love much.

What a fabulous day we had at Mill Rose Cottage on Saturday at the Mill Rosie Friends get together.
Although I did not take good photos on the day, I must share pics of my swap gift, made by our fun Naughty Santa for the day Shez of Enjoying Life.
Our swap gift this time was to be designed by Bronwyn Hayes of Red Brolly.

Not only did I receive the gorgeous Red Brolly apron, but Shez also included one of her great kitchen hand towels, all colour coordinated baking accessories, plus cookie cutters and cookery book.
No excuses for me not getting the Christmas baking done now.

Shez tied the apron on for me, I loved it so much I don't think the other lovely girls had the heart to take it off me. ( I threatened them with the evil eye if they did).

Shez tried hard to get us to play Naughty Santa, but not much gift swapping was done as most of us wanted to keep the gift we unwrapped, ( maybe better luck next year Shez ).
Thank you girls for such a fun day.
Hugs R.
These are the wool felt Spool Critters I have been enjoying making, they can be used as Pin Cushions, if you could bear sticking pins into them, I had a collection of antique spools, I have now used them all, hence the modern ones on the Lamb.
I would just like to add my post about the fantastic time we had at Mill Rose Cottage on Sunday.
What a fabulous group of women, we enjoyed lots of chatter, much laughter, good food and a bit of sewing at this wonderful venue.
I thank each and every one of you for your friendship, thank you also to Christine for being such a competent driver for Melody, Leanne and me.
The Photos have been shown, I was having trouble with Blogger, hence the late post, but I will add these two, the top photo is of my lovely blue bag made by Sharon of Lilabelle Lane, note the blue wrapped sweet treats Sharon added, ( I have such a sweet tooth ).
The second photo is the bag I made for the blue swap which was warmly received by Barb of Barb's Creations.
Thanks again Girls ,
This is my Tuesday Treasure for today with Melody of The House On The Side Of The Hill.
Like many of our Blogger Friends I love pretty China, especially Tea Pots, I still love to make a pot with loose leaf tea.
I first saw this"Royal Albert" Tea Pot when visiting my local Vinnies op shop,it was in the glass case reserved for special items and priced at $65, I loved it but couldn't warrant paying that price.
Each time I went to the shop I would check MY Teapot was still in the case, eventually the price came down, first $35, then $17, I told myself when it reached $10 I would buy it (scrooge hey).
Well you guessed it, on my next visit it was gone from the case, Oh well I thought someone was happy to pay the $17, good for them.
Imagine my surprise and shock when leaving the shop to see MY pot on a table, and the price $4.
I ALWAYS KNEW IT HAD MY NAME ON IT.
I can only think not many people use loose leaf tea these days.Briar Rosehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08141060871571222284noreply@blogger.com8tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1391602828084239059.post-17315550814308903622013-02-11T18:55:00.000-08:002013-02-11T18:55:30.693-08:00

My Tuesday Treasure for today is my Antique sewing notions collage, I found it at a school fete, on Phillip Island, as I love all old sewing bits and bobs it had to come home with me to join my own collection. The lady who made it said she hoped I would cherish it, no worries there.
Join Melody at The House on The Side Of THe Hill to see other treasures.Briar Rosehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08141060871571222284noreply@blogger.com10tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1391602828084239059.post-73755542884238546892013-02-01T20:57:00.001-08:002013-02-01T20:57:47.882-08:00A small Finish

I have just finished this small wall Hanging for my sewing room. A Teddlywinks design by Liz Stanway. Liz's patterns are a delight to do, I love her Teddies.
I used D.M.C 221 for the red work and French General Fabrics for the borders.
Now all I need is a wire hanger as I put a sleeve on the back instead of the hanging tabs used on the pattern.
More finishers on the way, just need to be quilted, hopefully will be on the blog soon.
I have not blogged for a very long time, but this year i hope to do better. today I would like to join with Melody for Tuesday Treasures.
I am very late showing these little treasures also, as most Christmas decorations would be tucked away.
but these Jim Shore Santas were brought home for me by my Dear Daughter on a recent trip to America, I just love them, and found it hard to relegate them to the Christmas cupboard.
Perhaps we need a little Christmas all year round, and I could keep them out.Cheers R.Briar Rosehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08141060871571222284noreply@blogger.com12tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1391602828084239059.post-9705380535201713952012-02-27T17:08:00.000-08:002012-02-27T17:08:23.185-08:00Tuesday Treasures

Since our wonderful Toby died,(I have blogged about him before) we have not had another dog of our own. These are our little Granddogs, Maggie, very muddy after playing in the wet garden, and Seymour, happily posing for the camera. They come to us whenever their families are away from home. They treat our place as their personal holiday resort,(be it ever so humble) and have us twisted around their paws, (a bit like the Grandkids really).

What would life be without the love and devotion of our pets?

Briar Rosehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08141060871571222284noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1391602828084239059.post-75102423376531854222012-02-13T16:46:00.000-08:002012-02-13T16:47:06.857-08:00Treasure from Russia

My treasure this week is a memento of my recent trip to Russia.
